As I paint these Peacocks, I have plenty of time to wonder about the purpose of that outrageously opulent tail. Could it be only for shaking at the ladies? I suspect there must also be a sizeable number of predators who, dazzled by that wonderful tail and imagining how tasty something like that must be, end up with a mouthful of feathers and no bird!!! What a great survival mechanism!
