Anyone who has seen a flock of mallards come in to land will understand the pose of the Mallard I paint. As they fly in with their speed and momentum frighteningly obvious, there is a moment when I hold my breath, expecting them to tumble head over teacups into their cohorts on the beach! They never do, but my mind completes the image of tumbling mallards, and they never fail to make me laugh! That's good.
